Popupsmart Shopify app: what it installs and what it costs

The Popupsmart Shopify app is a popup builder you install from the Shopify App Store, and its listing sells four plans. The prices below are the listing's, billed through Shopify in USD every 30 days, as read on October 23, 2026. The free plan, with 5,000 pageviews and one active popup, costs nothing to install.

The listing shows its own plan list: Starter appears only there, while popupsmart.com sells Free, Basic, Advanced, Pro and Expert. Unbranded is listed from Starter up, not on the Free card.

Installing the app and switching on the app embed

Shopify's developer documentation says app embeds are off after an app is installed, so step 2 is required. Popupsmart's Shopify guide gives these steps:

1. Install the app from the Shopify App Store. A Popupsmart account is created for you, and your store's fonts and colors are imported.
2. In the theme editor, open Theme Settings, then App embeds, switch on Popupsmart's Install Embed Code and click Save.
3. On the app's Overview page, click Create first campaign and build the popup.
4. Switch on the four settings the Publish step lists (autoresponder, self-notification, integrations and Google Analytics), then click Publish.
5. Open your store in a private window and load a page the popup targets.

Cart total, cart products and customer targeting

Popupsmart reads the shopper's cart only on Shopify; on WooCommerce and other platforms a cart popup is aimed at the cart page address instead.

In the app, advanced Shopify targeting sits in the Advanced Editor: cart products, cart total, cart product count, customer tags and purchase history. The help center says the store must be built with Shopify, and the listing's Free card lists exit-intent popups and advanced targeting.

Discount codes and syncing signups to Shopify Customers

The Coupon Code element supports four code types: a fixed code, an existing Shopify discount code, unique codes from a list, and dynamic unique codes that Shopify creates for each visitor.

Collected emails and phone numbers can sync to Shopify Customers, mapped to email, first name, last name, phone and tags. The app lists Klaviyo, Mailchimp and HubSpot as popular integrations. For follow-up campaigns, keep an email platform: Popupsmart sends autoresponder emails, not campaigns.
